  • 3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 package (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm water.
  2. Add sugar, butter, salt, egg, and 2 cups of the flour. Beat until smooth.
  3. Stir in enough remaining flour to form a soft dough.
  4. Turn onto a floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease the top.
  6. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour.
  7. Punch dough down. Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide into 12 pieces.
  8. Shape each into a ball and place in a greased 13×9-in. baking pan.
  9. Cover and let rise until doubled, about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake at 375°F for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from pan and let cool on a wire rack.
